Reels & Rails
A summers day visit to East Grinstead and the Bluebell Railway.
SATURDAY 14 JUNE: ORGANISED BY MIKE WOOD
A group of CTA members assembled at East Grinstead station and walked through the town taking in some of the railway history and viewing the cinema sites; the Radio Centre/Classic/Cannon, now replaced by the Atrium with a Scott Cinema, the Grosvenor Hall/Whitehall Palace/Whitehall and its tragic history and the site of the Cinema de Luxe/Solarius.
A rover ticket was included for the return journey on the Bluebell Railway which has steam services through the Sussex Weald. It has been used as a film and television location many times and it is an enjoyable ride through lovely countryside now linked by the recently reopened extension over the viaduct into East Grinstead.
